[Action/Voice]

[Vash had thought a leisurely walk though town would be a fun idea. And hey! It’s a cute little butterfly fluttering to him.] Why hello there friend! [He’s even more amused when it lands on his forehead.] Hey there, I’m not a flow-OW! Did you just bite me!? OW! I think you just BIT me! Butterflies don’t bi-OW! You DID bite me! Get off! [Vash shakes his head and dislodges the tease and then flaps his arms trying to get it to leave.] Shoo! Get out of here! Leave me alone! [Wait… now there’s TWO!? Where‘d that one come from!?] What kind of butterflies are these?! [And Vash takes off running and screaming, waving his arms in the air.]

[Voice]

Rem! Meryl! Whoever is home! Close the windows and don’t let any black butterflies in! I think they’re zombies or something. Everyone else stay clear! They bite! And are very persistent!

[Feel free to run into him pretty much anywhere. He’ll be warning everyone and saving (or getting in the way) of anyone under attack by the butterflies. Oh, and he won’t be killing any.]

[a low hum]

So moving and eating are now the criteria for a living thing? [it isn't an accusation... he's just thinking out loud now]

I think it's a bit more complicated than that...

And these don't seem to me to be creatures that do harm only incidentally-- as a part of trying to survive in this world. They are only imitations of that kind of life.

[Oh, right. Maybe this isn't the best time to engage in a philosophical discussion.]

...doing all right there, Vash?

[pause] You really won't kill it, huh?

Even if you're doing it the favor-- of not forcing it to subsist on human flesh? Isn't that freeing it more than actual freedom?

[a sigh]

Is killing it really doing something bad to it?

[his voice grows serious] No, they don't. But we exceed those rights every time we sow and reap-- or cure an illness.

That is the nature of living in this world.

Besides, if you keep it from eating human flesh, Vash-- you're killing it all the same. Just as directly.

[raises an eyebrow] And becoming a feast for butterflies is alright with you?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-05-20 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
.....

So you're alright with killing it more slowly?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-05-20 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
....you'll let them go-- where they could possibly hurt and kill other people?

[His off-switch is broken today, Vash.]

[ voice ]

[identity profile] one-green-eye.livejournal.com 2010-05-20 02:53 am (UTC)(link)

......to die. Without food.

...it was created to eat human flesh, Vash. [he's retiring from logic'ing you ever again]

I thought you went outside enough to know better than that. [rubbing the back of his head.

sigh.]

Well. Good luck with that.
