[Vash felt pretty crummy this morning when he woke up and realized he had once again fallen in love with another girl. Every year! How does he fall for it every year!? Oh man, he just knows Meryl is going to yell at him big time for this. Maybe he should just get it all out of the way, but man, she's sleeping in really late today.

He taps gently on her room door and peeks his head in.] Meryl? Are you up? Listen I- [Empty. Her room is completely empty. It couldn't really be empty could it? After spending almost a week in love and kissing the wrong person, she couldn't really be gone. Could she?

But the room is still empty. Quietly he'll find the Milly, Wolfwood, and Amelia if they're home to let them know before making a voice announcement.]

For anyone that knew her, I'm sorry. Meryl was sent back home. It's alright, she was in a very safe place there.

[Vash will be visiting Good Spirits shortly after. Wanting to let the workers there know of her return home in case they missed his message. Anyone who wants to find Vash can find him there, at the flower shop, or at home, but not the bakery today.]

[Luffy is in his room, bouncing his little bouncing ball at the wall again. He would usually do this when he was bored, but now he figured it might help him calm down. So Nami will probably hear a repetitious thump thump thump coming from his room as the ball hits the wall.

But it wasn't working. He didn't feel any calmer or more relaxed whatsoever. And the fact that it wasn't working was only making him even more pissed off than before. Until finally he just throws the damn thing into the wall so hard that it's enough to put a small dent in it.

This was definitely not a good day.]

[You know, she very nearly doesn't open the door at that one last thud into the wall.

Hell with it. The door swings open.]

...hey.

[He was sitting up when she first walks in, but he soon lays back, his hands behind his head.]

...hey. [And then there's silence as he stares up at the ceiling for a few moments. He'll break the silence by speaking again.] ...you heard right?

[He knows you did. He really hates arguing with his friends like that. It's too bad that seems to happen a lot in Luceti.]

[Flynn, and Meryl. Both people who pre-dated Nami's arrival and kept him company here. Both gone.

What can she say to that?]

No, you're not. [Blunt navigator is blunt.] The day you get used to it is the day you stop being human.

Five years ago... when I first got here... [He's not even sure how to measure time in this place. He wasn't really gone from here for two whole years. But since they both went home for two years he figured he'd just add two.] Meryl was one of the first people I talked to besides Flynn. And since I first met her I always promised that-- [His voice cracks a little.]-- that I'd beat up those bastards. So that she and everyone else could go home...

You'll still get your chance. [There is pain there, because she understands where he's coming from. Or at least, she thinks she does.] She's home now and she's safe where she is. And I know she's forgotten you, but I don't doubt she believed you'd find a way. There's still everyone else.

We'll get to the Malnosso one day, Luffy.

[He sits there for a little while staring down at the carpet for a couple moments before giving any kind of response. Eventually though, he let's out a small sigh.]

You're right Nami... [He stands and repositions his hat to the top of his head (it was hanging down behind him via a string). It was at this moment that Shanks' words echo through his mind.

"This hat means a lot to me. Promise that you'll give it back to me someday... When you've become a great pirate."

Shanks was right. He still had quite a ways to go before he could become the pirate he wanted to.]

I don't know when I'll be able to kick the Malnosso's ass. It could be a year, or two or three. But no matter what. I'll definitely do it. Even if it's after I give Shanks this hat, or become Pirate King. It's something that's another goal of mine now.

[He never really... had to make kicking someone's ass into a goal before. He always just sort of did it. But the Malnosso are apparently that tough to deal with at this point.]

Well, I'd hope so. [Her tone is deliberately dry as she leans against the wall, but honestly Nami's relieved to hear Luffy talk like this again.] I think the crew'd be pretty disappointed if that wasn't on the agenda.
