[Vash has started to keep to himself more the past couple days. Rem's arrival had almost made him forget this day, but he could never really forget.

Today he heads out early, trying to leave the new house before anyone else is awake. He finds a spot near the fountain to do some early morning people watching before getting up and heading to the bakery. He stops outside, knowing this isn't really where he wants to be, it's just habit. He turns and heads to the flower shop instead. He doesn't stay long, just long enough to make sure that everything is still running smooth without Aerith.

He checks the time to duck over to Good Spirits quickly. He wants to be there and gone before Meryl's shift. He orders a couple of beers before he starts growing restless again. This wasn't right either. What was he suppose to do on this day? How could he ever fix this mistake?

Without much thought he grabs a couple bottle and heads out into the forest. He walks for a bit before just sitting down against a tree inspecting his find. People said this blue stuff was strong, now seemed to be a good time to try it out.

Some point in his drinking his journal falls out of his pocket and starts to record. For awhile it records very little until suddenly-]

CRASH!

[There's the sound of a whiskey bottle shattering as it's thrown against a tree. It's followed by silence that is slowly broken by soft sobs.]

I'm sorry... I'm so sorry. I - I didn't mean to.

(ooc: Anyone who wants to talk to Vash before he gets himself drunk is free to call for him over the journals! He'll have it on him all day! Or run into him pretty much anywhere.)

[It's the quiet that eventually gets to him. The sobbing starts up again and he brings a hand to his eyes.]

Oh, my. [So he really was sad.

She lets go of his hand, but only so she can put her arm around his shoulders and try to pull him into a hug.]

[And for awhile, that's all Vash does. Once or twice he tries to say something, but the words get muddled in his drunken mind.]

[lostinmyway]

[Grune just keeps holding him, occasionally patting his back and saying softly:] There, there. It's all right.

[goldenglasses]

No, it's not. It's not alright!

[lostinmyway]

[This brings her up short.] ...Why not?

[goldenglasses]

Because... I don't know how... to fix it.

[lostinmyway]

Fix what?

[goldenglasses]

Everything. I've hurt so many people.

[lostinmyway]

Oh, I'm sure that's not true. You're a very nice person, Vash.

[goldenglasses]

[All Vash can manage is a shake of his head.]

[lostinmyway]

[When Vash doesn't seem as though he's cheered up, Grune goes on.] You give everyone so many beautiful flowers and you're very friendly. You're not a bad person at all.

[goldenglasses]

But I've hurt so many people! So many lives have been ruined all because of me.

[lostinmyway]

[It takes her a moment to reply.] If you ask their forgiveness and are sorry with all your heart, everything will turn out all right in the end. Don't worry.

[goldenglasses]

They won't forgive me, how could they?

[lostinmyway]

Oh, when they see you're sorry, of course they will.

[goldenglasses]

I can never be sorry enough.

[lostinmyway]

[She gives him a little squeeze with her arms.] I think it's more important that you try your best. Don't you?

[goldenglasses]

No. Not this time. That's not good enough.

[lostinmyway]

[This, Grune doesn't understand.] But you'll be trying your best. Why wouldn't that be good enough?

[goldenglasses]

Because I've hurt too many people to ever be forgiven.

[lostinmyway]

That's not true. Anyone can be forgiven if they're really sorry. [Yeah, you're worrying her now, Vash.]

[goldenglasses]

Not this time. Not me.

[lostinmyway]

[She shakes her head.] That's not true.

[Why doesn't he understand?]

[goldenglasses]

Yes it is. [Partly because he hate himself, but mostly because he's drunk!]
