[Those who know Vash may have been noticing slight differences about him the past week to two weeks. He's not around as much, taking longer and longer walks through the forest. Visiting the spot where he once fought Wolfwood and Legato more and more.

Today he leaves his house extra early and spends most of the day at that spot. He has his journal and will answer it if someone wants to get a hold of him, but will not be using it himself. He'll return to the village later in the evening and finds a quiet place to sit at Good Spirits with a bottle of cheap whiskey.]

There's so much life in this place... and yet... [No one knows the terrible things I've done.]

[He'll be there until the place looks like it's about to close up before stumbling his way back home. It's on his way that he takes his journal out and speaks into it with the slightest slur to his voice.]

[Voice]

On this day, back home... the city of July was destroyed. I know - I know you all couldn't know the people there. I just, I just don't want them to ever be forgotten and how they lost everything in a single moment. [He stops speaking for a moment. His voice breaking as tears start to fall from his eyes.] And I'm so sorry.

Well, I hope you're careful too. Some rumors are true after all. [He takes a long swing from the bottle he's carrying.]

[He glances curiously at the drinking before pulling a flask from his pocket and taking his own swig.]

I don't need to be careful. But I can tell a real monster.

Yeah? Some trick to it or something? Or do you have some sort of monster radar?

It's from experience. From being raised by and with other monsters. And sometimes being one myself.

I dunno, you don't seem like such a bad guy to me. [You bring him DONUTS man, for something stupid he did himself really.]

[He gives a faint smile, but he speaks more gravely.]

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I haven't always been such an upstanding citizen. Not when I worked with my Pops. I pulled off a lot of kills for him back in the day. And the last time he took my memories? ...I got the only survivor from my old group of friends. Without even recognizing him.

That's right. As long as you can get yourself onto the road to being a monster instead of a man. Back home, I sought revenge on those who made me what I am. But now that that's over with, I have something different in mind. In the end, I'm the alive one, and they're all gone. So I just gotta live for all of them. Everyone who died for me.

Yeah? I hope you make it a good life for them then.

I try. It's a fun part of living a life of avarice. It makes things easier than feeling sorry all the time.

[After drinking from a small flash in his jacket, Greed laughs and slaps Vash on the shoulder.]

Just something to think about, eh? It works well enough for me!

Right. [After an indifferent shrug, he glances around.] I got no idea where are. Anywhere near your place?

Yeah, just over that bridge there is my place. You don't know how to get home?

Now I know. I just lost track of where we are and needed a landmark. Now that I've had my say, maybe you are fine enough to make it through the last stretch yourself.

I can walk myself home just fine.

Sure you can. Try not to hurl the moment I'm gone, okay?

Hey! I can handle my drink, I'll have you know! [He'll throw up outside the house thank you very much!]

That's what they all say. Why don't you let me know the next time you wanna drink yourself to oblivion so I can tell for myself, okay?

Good. [With another slap on Vash's shoulder, Greed turns to leave.] I'll seeya around, then - maybe some doughnuts will help with that hangover tomorrow.

Actually, that's alright. I won't need any donuts tomorrow. [He doesn't deserve them.]
