[The floor had been quiet. Vash hadn't seen Adela for several days now and that worried him. So when he opened her apartment door he wasn't sure if he was happy or not to see it empty except for a few letters that he found inside. She was home where she belonged, but it was going to be a hard post to make.

After a few moments to put his own thoughts in order he opens his journal and speaks calmly. Not completely businesslike, but someone in control.]

I just found out that Adela has been returned home. I'm sorry for all those who knew her and those that didn't get the chance to. She was a great person and I know will be missed. She left some notes for a few people.

[A brief pause as he picks up the letters and starts to read out the names.] Vegeta and Bulla Brief, Rock Lee, Saori Kimura, Jean Kirstein, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, Android 17, Iroh, and Ventus.

If you don't know who I am, I'm Vash and I use to share the same floor as she did. You can find me on the fourth floor of the ice building. Feel free to stop by anytime to collect your letters. Just let me know when you think you'll be stopping by and I'll be sure to be home, alright?

[Vash will be around for a bit with his journal open to listen for replies. Anyone interested in passing Vash by in normal life can also find him later hanging out at the bakery eating some doughnuts in memory of Adela. Then another trip to the flower shop as the flowers usually cheer him up.]

Speaking of going crazy; Luceti hasn't driven you mad yet, has it? Settling in well?

Ha! I guess we haven't met yet. I'm Sokka; nice to meet you, Vash.

[Of course, the thought that maybe they have met hasn't escaped Sokka. But you know, just in case.]

Driven me mad? Naaaah. Well I mean, yes it has, but I guess you get used to all the weird things before too long. Once everything starts defying common sense, I guess the only choice you've got left is to just forgo it.

I've mostly settled in, though. I've got a home, a job, and I've gotten to see one of the other encampments. That's at least a fairly good start.

Yeah, good to meet you. Ah, but I should probably admit, I've sort of... met you before. Although, I'm guessing you get that a lot. [He knows Sokka was a pretty popular guy. While the two of them weren't very close; Vash still felt it was best if he came clean with that fact.]

It's good to hear that this place hasn't driven you insane yet. You've done a lot more than I did my first year here.

[Sokka rolls his eyes a bit, though Vash can't see that. Still Sokka is chuckling ruefully.]

Yeah, yeah, I do. It seems half of the village knows me in some capacity. I guess it's alright.

[Sokka is at least super thankful that Vash is upfront about it all.]

Which first year? My first first year or my second first year? [He's probably talking about the first. Still, no matter.] Either way, I can't just sit around doing nothing. Well, I can; that would sound nice and all. But really, the circumstances really don't allow for it.

Well, can you blame so many people for wanting to get to know an awesome guy like you? [Not said in a mocking way at all. On occasion Vash enjoys stroking people's egos.]

I meant you've done more than I did in my first year here for this time. Wouldn't hold a time you don't remember against you. But even then I think you did more than I ever will.

[Awesome guy like him? Even if it was mocking, Sokka would probably drink that up as if it weren't. Humble Sokka isn't.]

I know, right? Who wouldn't want to know me?! [Cheeky grin.]

Truth be told though, I've more or less been on the go for the last few years, never really spending too long in any single place. It's actually kind of weird to say that this is the first time since leaving home that I've stayed in one place for more than a month at a time. I guess I've just got all this energy and want to be productive. I guess that's why I'm buzzing around like a scorpion-bee.

[Of course, there are other reasons, too, but those have to deal with things that Sokka is less inclined to mention over open channels.]

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. Before I came to Luceti I was a aimless drifter. Bouncing here and there trying to see as much of the world as I could.

But luckily, I'm also lazy. So I've gotten a bit use to just kicking up my heels and relaxing.

Hey, there ain't anything wrong with that! I like a good vacation as much as anyone, maybe go to the beach, bask in the sun, build some sand sculptures.

Though I honestly think it'd get a bit boring if that's all I did.

Oh, don't worry. Luceti keeps things from getting too boring, but I'm sure you didn't need to hear that from me to know that.

[Personally, Vash loves the quiet life. He just has no choice at home and would probably really like Luceti if it didn't have all that war and experiments going on.]

... So I've noticed. Though at least the month or so has felt something like a lull.

[Great, Sokka. You jinxed it. The mods are going to destroy all happiness now.]

Yeah these lulls happen now and then. Then usually everything comes crashing down.

Like the moon. The moon fell once.

[Sokka becomes kind of quiet after Vash says that, though for reasons completely unrelated.]

Yeah, I've seen the moon die before.

Wha- r-really? I didn't know a moon could die.

[Oh, of course Vash is going to ask questions about it. Fine.]

Well, the Moon Spirit. But when she died, well, goodbye moon.

And then my girlfriend became the new moon.

[That's a little hard to picture in his mind, but Vash doesn't doubt it's true for a second. Makes him feel a bit bad that he blew a huge crater into one of the moons on his home planet.]

She became the new moon? Like, physically? Or just spiritually.

[... huh.]

Yes? I mean, yes, both.

When the Moon Spirit was killed, the moon vanished from the sky. And when... Yue gave her life back...

Not only did she become the moon spirit, but the moon came back.

[Gave her life back. None of this is sounding very good.]

So, did she have to leave to live on the moon or something then? [Sounds better than being killed which is what he's sort of picturing now.]

Well, the Moon Spirit and the Ocean Spirit are some of the few spirits that live in our world instead of the Spirit World. They live as fish in a small pool near the North Pole.

So I don't think so? But I... don't really understand all that spirit stuff. You'd have to ask Aang.

Alright, but she sounds like a very brave woman. You must be really proud of her.

Yeah. I am.

[Pardon him if he's a little sentimental over it. He still thinks of her whenever there's a full moon out.]

[Vash wouldn't blame Sokka at all for being sentimental.]

Ah, I suppose I got a little off track there. I actually have a few letters to deliver, but maybe I'll see you around. I have one to deliver to Iroh. I think you know him, right?

Of course! He lives with us over in House 56, though if you can't find him, I'd recommend the tea shop. He can't get enough of that.
