[It’s been a few days since the draft, but even though he hadn’t been sleeping very well the last couple nights, last night was better. Really, it’s hard sometimes to feel down with Milly around again. That unshakable optimism must be contagious. Or maybe it was the fact that he hadn’t had any feeling of Knives being close since he returned from the draft. Maybe he was sent home! That would be nice.

They had all been brought together again. It feels almost like a dream as it would have been impossible back home, but now not only were the four of them together once again, they had a home together. A place they always knew where to find each other at the end of the day. It was also hard to believe, as he thought about it, how many friends he had grown so close to after being here for over a year. Good friends.

Really, it’s hard to hate Luceti when it’s given you all that.

So Vash is visiting his favorite spots. The flower shop is first on his list, then it’s to the bakery for some lunch! He’ll take his haul of donuts to the fountain to catch up on his people watching until they’re all gone. He doesn’t have too long to linger there, with the weather warming up and the snow melting he heads out into the forest to see if any of the flowers he’s planted have started to grow back yet.

Okay… so that’s a bit of a disappointment - BUT IT’S OKAY! The snow is only just starting to melt so they still have time to wake up and start growing. Besides, he likes the snow, he’s a little sad to see it go. He thinks Milly would have loved to play in it.

He had intended to head home after checking on the flowers, but it was so nice out that he changed his mind. Opting to pull his harmonica out and practicing a bit on it. Of course as the journals like to do, it turns on against his will and records the music that he plays for awhile. Then he talks out loud to himself for a bit.]

I can’t wait to see your flowers bloom again, Rem. I know they’ll be beautiful when they do. I’ve been trying to take very good care of them for you.

It’s nice here, when it’s quiet like this. I haven’t forgotten what I have to do back home, but I really like these peaceful days here.

[A pause.]

I did the best I could, Rem, but I’m not sure if I really did anything at all. I wonder what you would have done differently. Was there something I didn’t see? Something else I could have done? I sometimes wish you were here with me again.

I think he'd like that! Just... uh, well, don't be afraid of him, okay? He's a skeleton, but a very good and nice skeleton!

What's an skeleton?

Oh well... um. A skeleton is a person who is made up of just bones.

Bones? Like the ones that chicken legs have?

Yeah, kinda like that. Only... he's more people shaped.

And he has no meat or skin? Isn't that uncomfortable? It must hurt.

Well, for most people losing all your meat and skin would hurt, but Brook is a special case.

So he had those before? How did he lose them?

Well, I'm not completely sure, but his world has magical fruit. Each one can give someone a special power. His was to live again after he died, but I guess his soul got lost when it tried to return to his body, so that's why it looks like that now.

That's very sad, he's dead then? I'm sorry.

Well, he did die once, so that's sad, but right now he's living and happy! So you don't need to be sorry.

[Goku doesn't really understand it very well. He can barely understand death itself as of yet, so he doesn't seem very convinced.]

Okay... He really won't mind, right? Is he a nice person?

He's one of the nicest person I know!

Okay then! I'll ask him to show me his music someday!

[But now... Eyes Vash.]

Can I hear your music once more, please?

Sure. Would you like the same song or a different one?

You know other songs? What other songs? I want to hear them!

Okay, well, this one is a very old song where I'm from, but it's a good one. [And slowly Vash starts to play Rem's favorite song.]

[Goku can be a noisy kid. He can't help it, he's also easily excitable and everything is just like so new to him. Music is specially new, but still he can be quiet and still sometimes. Now is one of them. He will just listen with his whole attention fixated on Vash and the music that comes from the harmonica. Concentrating really hard, as if trying to memorize it because he wouldn't hear it again.

There's a big smile on his face though, clear sign of him enjoying it.]

[When the song is finished Vash grins, happy the boy apparently liked the song.] Did you like it?

I like it! I like it a lot! Did you learn that song back at your world?

Well, I knew the song before I came here, but didn't learn how to play it on this until after Brook taught me.

That's cool! So Brook also teaches you music?

Yup! Brook taught me all I know!

All you know? Hakkai is teaching me lots of things but I also learned from K-Sanzo and Gojyo! Brook must be very intelligent if he knows so much!

[Yeah, it's taking it literally.]

Well, not everything, no. He mostly taught me almost all I know about music. I've learn lots of different things from different people.
