[It’s been a few days since the draft, but even though he hadn’t been sleeping very well the last couple nights, last night was better. Really, it’s hard sometimes to feel down with Milly around again. That unshakable optimism must be contagious. Or maybe it was the fact that he hadn’t had any feeling of Knives being close since he returned from the draft. Maybe he was sent home! That would be nice.

They had all been brought together again. It feels almost like a dream as it would have been impossible back home, but now not only were the four of them together once again, they had a home together. A place they always knew where to find each other at the end of the day. It was also hard to believe, as he thought about it, how many friends he had grown so close to after being here for over a year. Good friends.

Really, it’s hard to hate Luceti when it’s given you all that.

So Vash is visiting his favorite spots. The flower shop is first on his list, then it’s to the bakery for some lunch! He’ll take his haul of donuts to the fountain to catch up on his people watching until they’re all gone. He doesn’t have too long to linger there, with the weather warming up and the snow melting he heads out into the forest to see if any of the flowers he’s planted have started to grow back yet.

Okay… so that’s a bit of a disappointment - BUT IT’S OKAY! The snow is only just starting to melt so they still have time to wake up and start growing. Besides, he likes the snow, he’s a little sad to see it go. He thinks Milly would have loved to play in it.

He had intended to head home after checking on the flowers, but it was so nice out that he changed his mind. Opting to pull his harmonica out and practicing a bit on it. Of course as the journals like to do, it turns on against his will and records the music that he plays for awhile. Then he talks out loud to himself for a bit.]

I can’t wait to see your flowers bloom again, Rem. I know they’ll be beautiful when they do. I’ve been trying to take very good care of them for you.

It’s nice here, when it’s quiet like this. I haven’t forgotten what I have to do back home, but I really like these peaceful days here.

[A pause.]

I did the best I could, Rem, but I’m not sure if I really did anything at all. I wonder what you would have done differently. Was there something I didn’t see? Something else I could have done? I sometimes wish you were here with me again.

[You bet. And thanks! Now he knows which pocket they're in. You just enjoy that cigarette there as he turns the on you gave him over and over in his hands. Apparently trying to figure out the master secret to them. Then suddenly, without any warning, he's moving and attempting to raid that pocket of yours.]

He puts up no resistance; nope, he just smokes his cigarette all chill-like.]

[The lack or resistance concerns him a bit. Maybe it's because you have more... maybe it's because they're free... or maybe... just maybe... this pack is empty?

[Yeaaah, it's a full pack. Weird, huh?

But he's just chill as fuck. It's a mystery.]

No. Nothing wrong. [Besides the fact that you're kinda creeping him out. Taking his donut bag and standing up. If he's going to do something to your cigarettes he'd better get his haul somewhere safe.]

Hm? Going back to the house?

Who else? The stingy bastard's been warming up to me a little, so I might as well make the most of it before I say something to piss him off again.

Hmm, I should probably try to talk to him soon. I know we're not on Gunsmoke anymore and water isn't as hard to find if a fire gets out of control, but the learning process still makes me a little nervous.

[Not like he's probably accidently set part of a town on fire or anything... maybe... actually... WAS that because of him? Oh crap, it might have been. Did he properly put out that camp fire before running from those people trying to shoot him?]

What, are you afraid of a few little burns? Or maybe of him lighting that hay on your head on fire?

I guess a little. With everything so dry, fire could get out of hand really quickly back home. And... well... I guess I like not being called a walking natural disaster here. Knowing my luck I'll probably set the forest on fire or something. [He's kidding... mostly. He's not really THAT worried, but it still has been something at the back of his mind a little bit. He was different enough without being able to use magic. At least this magic everyone can learn.]

... You do have pretty shitty luck.

[He stands up, prepared to go his own direction in a minute. And lol, he pulls out another pack of cigarettes, putting out the one he'd been puffing on in an empty space.]

But you'll pull through, if you just get it done.

[Starting toward the bakery now. Boy, I'm hungry.]

Or you might start a huge fire in the forest. Whichever.
