Personality: Vash is the living embodiment of: be the change you want to see in the world. Despite living on a desert planet where most have the mindset of: kill or be killed, Vash chooses to live by his motto of: Love and Peace. For the past century he's traveled the wasteland of his planet called: No Man's Land in an effort to spread this message and also stop his twin brother who is determined to eradicate the human race.
His dedication to the idea of peace is extreme. Vash's body is covered in heavy scaring all from his attempts to end things without hurting others. He's an ace gunman and could easily finish any fight pretty much instantly, but he'd rather not hurt people if he can avoid it. Meaning he tends to keep his gun holstered.
Outwardly, Vash is a smiling, fun loving man. Always laughing and looking for a good time, but this is a mask. Deep down there is a hatred for himself. CW: Mention of depression/massive destruction and death He's not suicidal, but he doesn't see much value in himself. This stems mostly from a time where his powers were forced out of control and he ended up creating a massive black hole that destroyed a city of millions in the blink of an eye. Those who didn't die instantly were left scrambling for what meager resources were left. Most ultimately died. The guilt he feels about this is extreme, but he keeps moving. Looking for redemption, but thinking it's likely beyond him.
The other thing that keeps Vash going is his other motto: The ticket to the future is always blank. One never knows what the future will hold or where it will take you. He plans to do his best to always march towards a future that he can be proud of. One of nothing but peaceful days.
CW: Mention of child death and experimentation
In his world, Vash is an evolved form of a Plant (a sentient terraformer, not like a tree) called an Independent Plant. It's how he could create the black hole that destroyed the city. As far as he's aware, there are only two others like him. That being his twin brother and their older sister who died before they were born. She was killed by scientists intrigued by her existence as her birth by a Plant should have been impossible. Their testing went too far and they accidentally killed her.
Between what happened to his sister and the fear he sees in people any time he uses his abilities, Vash hides what he really is and can do. He hates being alone more than anything. He craves people's affection while thinking he doesn't deserve it. In an effort to not be seen as a scary monster, Vash likes to play at being a fool. Finding that people are less scared of someone they think they're smarter than. More willing to trust an idiot who happily agrees to just about anything. This is the outward persona Vash wears. Thinking most wouldn't like him or will be fearful of him if he showed his true natural. How calculating, smart, and outright deadly he can be if he wished to be.
Vash has an above average intelligence. He has a photographic memory. He's lived for 150+ years and can remember the names and faces of every person he's met even if he hasn't seen them in decades and they've aged. He can calculate ricochet shots with perfect accuracy. Yet, he hides this as pretending children can sneak up on him while laughing is the person he wants to be. Someone worthy of being loved.
Roommates?: I'm up for anything! I think I'd prefer at least one roommate for the CR opportunities, but Vash would HATE to be on his own. So, if the mods thinks the scientists would shove him on his own to make him extra miserable, then I'll be all for that too!
