[It’s a quiet day in Vash’s room; a quiet that is broken by a thump as his journal falls to the floor beside his desk. Then the camera is suddenly blocked as ~~death from above!~~ a black cat jumps down on top of the journal and begins batting and ripping at the corners of the flapping pages. The cat suddenly stops it’s attack and freezes up when a door opens and the sounds of footfalls can be heard followed shortly by the sloshing of water.

How dare the funny man in the red coat pay more attention to those flowers than her! Kitty is off and the journal is left with a view of Vash’s wall as he suddenly yelps as the cat uses her claws to get his attention.]

Oh, hey there kitty, shouldn’t you be in Wolfwood’s room terrorizing him? [There’s a soft mew from the cat followed by the squeaking of bed springs.] Hmm, you really do need a name, we can’t just keep calling you ‘the cat’ forever and Wolfwood was pretty adamant about not naming you Nichole. [A chuckle here. Yes, he finds himself funny.]

Hm, but what would suit you? Sally? Naw, you don’t look like a Sally to me. Hm, maybe Bailey or Buttons? No, not Buttons… Bailey isn’t too bad, but I bet I could do better. Milo - nah, that’s more suited for a male cat. Zig-zag? No, that’s just silly. Oh! I know! How about Tesla! I’ve always liked that name. What do you think? Do you like Tesla? [There is a pleased purring sound from the cat, from the name or the petting she’s getting it’s hard to tell.]

I think it will do. [A contented chuckle.] Never thought I’d have a pet. It’s hard to take care of one when you’re moving all the time. It’s nice. I think I kind of like staying in one place. Don’t you, Tesla? A whole year, I think that might be a new record.

[It’s Vash’s one year anniversary today! He’s so proud of himself for managing to not knock over any buildings during that time! You may have to yell a bit loudly if you’d like to interrupt this “important” conversation as his journal is on the opposite side of the desk. If you just keep listening you might hear more!]

You think so? [It's hard to miss how proud he sounds over finding a good name for a cat.]

That's good! I was starting to feel bad always calling it The Cat. It deserves a name if it's so intent on living with us.

I feel like it earned it's name when it first claimed Wolfwood's bed as it's own.

[Amused laughter] I figure it's a little bit of both.

Family, huh? [He likes the word, and no, the journal wasn't suppose to catch that.]

[He blushes slightly before answering.] Yeah, I guess it is.

I'm glad... I'm glad you're both here with me. It's really been two years now, and I don't know if I could have made it here this long without you.

It's hard to believe isn't it, but hey! I've gone a whole year without knocking over a building! [Aren't you proud of me!?]

...the earthquake doesn't count.

You've done pretty well, this year, Mr. Vash. Now, if only you can hold this up at home.
