Master Aku! I was able to steal Simon Belmont’s whip!

[Vash is currently making this post in house 60 after finally finding one that was empty.]

[And suddenly Aku rises from the ground, impressively rumbling and casting a sinister shadow over Vash in the midst of crashing thunder. His evil laugh bellows out as he turns ever so slightly to catch Vash in his peripheral vision. His eyebrows continue to burn, creating steam as the rain fails to extinguish them. He does not bother to turn to Vash completely. Not yet. He wants to make this little man feel every bit like the insect he is.]

[Then Aku should like the cowardly way Vash yelps and jumps back, tripping himself in the processes and landing in a puddle with a splash.] ow...

[Oh yes. Aku's ego is stroked. He's very pleased.]

Give your Lord Aku the whip of the fool, Simon Belmont.

[And this is the part he's been dreading although his dumb: did I do good master? grin never falters as he holds out parts of a whip in his bandaged hands. It got a little damaged in the flames.] Here you are Master!

[Aku will seize the remains of the whip with a scowl. He clenches them in his fist... and feels nothing. He fumes at first. Could it have been the real one? There was no way of telling. But Kefka had warned him of treachery. He stews like that for a bit.]

[Aw crap. This isn't going well, but the clueless look doesn't leave his face as Vash readies himself to dodge - what he's not sure.]

[And suddenly he brightens up.]

You have done well!

[What's this...? What - no way. Does a god actually like him today?!] Really master!?

I think you deserve a reward.

O-oh...? [For some reason, Aku doesn't strike him as the kind of person who'd give a reward he'd like.]

Oh yes. Something you'll always remember.

[Damn. That's a creepy grin coming from someone over ten times taller than you are.] Uh... that's okay Master, I doubt a lowly minion as me really deserves anything from your greatness.

Oh. But the great Aku insists. [Vash may notice his eyes beginning to flash.]

[Takes a step back. He doesn't like that flash.] Uh... if you insist?

[You Vash, have outlived your usefulness. And so.

Eye lasers.]

[... except at that very moment, a green woman suddenly comes crashing into Vash to knock him out of the way.]

[Well, Vash had been ready and half expecting an attack and was going to dodge - wasn't expecting to be saved and goes skidding through the mud. Give him a second or two to get his breath back.] I-Ikra!?

Sorry, not the time for reunions, handsome. Time to start running. [She'll offer him a hand up before taking off running herself.]

[And a huge angry spider is behind them, smashing through the trees.]

[He'll wonder what the hell you're doing out here in the rain later for now he's more than happy to run. He's very good at running.]

[Closing in on them. Giant spiders are so much faster than tiny two-legged creatures.]

[Can't a lady take a walk in the rain without an inquisition? Gawd. But she'll grab him by the side of the jacket and try to get him to run a different direction. Maybe she has a plan?]

[She could! But Vash had a rather simple plan himself. He wishes he had better but it was all he had. He'll yell to her as he spins easily on his heel to change direction.] Do you know where the tunnels are?

Don't be an idiot, Vash! You'll lead him straight into the village. [Where destruction will ensue.] I've got a better idea.

I wasn't going to go through the village! But let's go with your idea. [He hopes it's a good one.]
