[Vash today is standing outside of Community Building Four staring up into the rain, a happy smile on his face and laughing joyfully. His arms stretched out, he’s already drenched, but doesn’t seem to mind. After a few minutes he opens his journal.]

Hey Meryl! It’s raining outside! [Would anyone care to explain to him what a raincoat is?]

Not a lot of rain. I'll miss the snow actually, but at least spring will be coming soon!

Hehh. You must no have seen enough to get tired of it. [Most of his experience with snow is slogging through many feet of it in the mountains, trying not to freeze to death. Even though he can be a dork (http://pics.livejournal.com/one_green_eye/pic/0000p174) about it, too] It can be pretty dangerous, when there's a lot of it.

How many trees? Yes-- something like that. There's a lot of really healthy underbrush, too. A lot of what looks like scrubby clumps of twigs, now, will flower into healthy plants.

As much as I don't like what it means-- I'd have to agree. Have you not been here long enough to see the spring, before?

Nope! Haven't seen a spring before!

Species of mushi that imitates snowflakes-- it travels by rolling itself into snowballs. Sometimes they get so huge that they try to crash into trees to make themselves smaller-- or a person, if there are no trees around. [He ...forgets which people he's told about mushi, these days]

Well, Gunsmoke's weather did change a little. It would go from hot - to hotter.

That's right. In my world-- they are life in its purest form. But most people can't see them.

Like a desert climate? Is Gunsmoke the area where you lived-- or was the whole world like that?

Gunsmoke is the name of the planet... [Sheepish grin and rubs the back of his head] and yeah, it's all desert.

Scarves, glowing dust mites in the air, floating jellyfish, snow, rain, snails, shadows, dragons, insects.....a great river of light that flows in the darkness beneath our feet. [he gestures, the smoke from his cigarette lingering in the shape of a river just a tad too long to be normal smoke]

The whole planet...a desert? [That is....incredibly depressing to him. If he were the type to be depressed. You poor kid.] That's hard for me to imagine.

Do you miss it, there?

I miss my friends there more. I don't miss the desert a whole lot, but I suppose I miss it now and then. I just hope one day Gunsmoke's landscape could be more like Luceti's.

Well one was actually here before I came. She's been here a whole year before I came, but some are still at home.

You said-- that you hoped that home would be like Luceti, one day. Is the climate the result of some natural disaster? One the planet is recovering from, maybe?

No, it's a natural desert, but we have these plants that are able to help make the land fertile with some hard work, but it can take a long time and they don't all work as they should.

Well... they're not like normal plants. They're a mixture of machine and organic life, but it's a lost technology. Most people don't know how to program them correctly.

Machine and organic life? I've never heard of such a thing. Wouldn't have thought they were possible to mix.

[muses] I guess if it's a "lost" technology you wouldn't be able to tell me what kind of organic life? [Can't help thinking like a mushishi, even when he's knows it's another world entirely...]

Sorry, I'm not really sure myself. It's pretty complicated. [Actually he probably has some idea - but because it was never really made fully clear in anime/manga I'm going with him being uncomfortable talking about this. XD]
