[If you happen to be walking in the forest this afternoon, you may notice something strange. There is a man lying in the snow who apparently thought it would be a good place for a nap. And napping is just what he’s doing at the moment. Thinking that maybe the past couple months have only been a dream - that is, until he starts to wake and notices two important things. He’s cold and wet. Gunsmoke is neither cold or wet so then - it was real? His eyes finally snap open and he bolts upright. He’s breathing heavily as he waves a hand in front of his face before something else hits him.] Meryl! [Snatching the journal at his side Vash will be opening it and nearly shouting into it.]

Meryl! [He quickly softens his voice and puts a soft smile on his face. He’s really back - no need to worry people so much by freaking out.] Uh - everyone. I’m back. I’m sorry if I worried you, but I’ll be home soon.

[He makes good on this by standing as soon as the post is done and making his way back home. He’s stumbling a bit as he makes his way back to community building 4 but otherwise looks fine.]

(ooc: May be slow tagging back. Going to bed soon. I WAS going to post this tomorrow but a few people wouldn't stop complaining. So. I decided to post and not tell them. HA! Revenge! I think?)

Alright. I'll answer it if I can. [He has a feeling he knows where this is going.]

[Sighs] I didn't want to; he wanted to fight. [His voice hardens slightly.] For him - it was a game.

Why didn't you flee...? [Isn't that what most would have done in that situation...?]

I tried, but it wasn't really an option.

[Of course, of course. Yuber can teleport - that alone would make fleeing quite difficult. But that statement kind of makes her wonder.]

Then... You only fought back because you had no choice?

Yes. I wanted to wound him enough for him to flee or stop his attacks.

But your attempt to do so turned out to be a fatal error... right?

No. It is never right to take a life. No one has that right.

[...Hm.] ...Why not?

Because everyone has a future. A life. Everyone is given a blank ticket and it’s up to them to see where it will lead. No one has the right to take that away from them.

What if... everything is fated to be destroyed? [People wouldn't have a future in that case. And that pretty much renders everything you said moot from her point of view, Vash.]

No. There is always hope. Always a future. There is always a chance to survive and live. [Sorry you are speaking to a optimist who likes to see the glass mostly full.]

But... you can't change your destiny. [Sorry, but you're talking to a girl who kiiind of hates the whole world and wants to destroy it all, Vash. Getting through to her with lectures like that is... not exactly easy to do.]

[He shakes his head. He doesn't believe in destiny!] It's up to each person to decided how they want to live their life. It's up to them to figure out what they want to do with the blank ticket they were handed. [Vash is meeting a lot of people like you - why do you like to make him lecture you all so much?]

...Why do you think that? [She's a pretty strong believer of fate, unfortunately, so it's... difficult for her to relate to that sort of mindset, to say the least. And hey, some people just happen to have a view of the world that completely clashes with his - she certainly does, at the very least.]

It’s what I was told by someone who was very wise. It’s something I believe in; something I’ve seen. I’ve watched people change their futures if they wish. You never know where you might end up in life but it’s all up to you and the choices you make.

You... have seen people change their future? [That's actually setting off a few alarm bells for her. Fighting your fate is supposed to be impossible; at least, that's what she believes. But if there are people who managed to alter their destiny, then it's clearly possible... and that is hardly a good thing, from her point of view.]

People are capable of anything if only given the chance.

[She's not entirely sure if she's willing to believe that, but if he is indeed telling the truth? That's... bad news for her, to say the least.]

Then... what if they aren't given a chance? [Because she certainly doesn't want her fate to change, and seeing as hers is intertwined with that of someone else here in Luceti... she might just have to make sure that he won't get a chance to change it. Just to be safe.]

No one should be allowed to take that chance away from someone. All life is important.

But... there will always be people who will try to do so. [Herself included, not that she'll say that out loud...]

One day... we will all live in peace. Where people can live out their lives in peaceful days without war and violence.
