[If you happen to be walking in the forest this afternoon, you may notice something strange. There is a man lying in the snow who apparently thought it would be a good place for a nap. And napping is just what he’s doing at the moment. Thinking that maybe the past couple months have only been a dream - that is, until he starts to wake and notices two important things. He’s cold and wet. Gunsmoke is neither cold or wet so then - it was real? His eyes finally snap open and he bolts upright. He’s breathing heavily as he waves a hand in front of his face before something else hits him.] Meryl! [Snatching the journal at his side Vash will be opening it and nearly shouting into it.]

Meryl! [He quickly softens his voice and puts a soft smile on his face. He’s really back - no need to worry people so much by freaking out.] Uh - everyone. I’m back. I’m sorry if I worried you, but I’ll be home soon.

[He makes good on this by standing as soon as the post is done and making his way back home. He’s stumbling a bit as he makes his way back to community building 4 but otherwise looks fine.]

(ooc: May be slow tagging back. Going to bed soon. I WAS going to post this tomorrow but a few people wouldn't stop complaining. So. I decided to post and not tell them. HA! Revenge! I think?)

[It seems to happen more when he reaches for things on his right but when you stop he’s going to stop himself finally feeling your eyes on him.] Uuuhh… something wrong Meryl? [Playing dumb? Yes.]

[ She shakes her head. ]

No, no... hm, could you get get the pepper out of the cabinet. It's on the middle shelf.

[ Yes, she's testing him. ]

[Oh. You’re mean.] Sure. [He goes and reaches for it - at first bumping it a little farther back with his fingers before grabbing it and handing it to you. YOU SAW NOTHING!]

... Vash, what's wrong?

[He’s quiet for a bit. Debating lying and saying he’s just tired. That is part of it. He’s tired and stressed. He’d rather have you not worry but decides with you - he’ll tell the truth.] I… can’t see out of my right eye.

... You... That's right... the death penalty.

It’s not so bad really! It could have been a lot worse. Just need to get use to it is all.

Mm... it'll take adjustment. I'll help the best I can, okay?

Thanks Meryl. [He'll stop bumping most things after today. Right now he's just a bit stressed and having a little trouble focusing.] It'll be alright.

[ She touches his arm gently and smiles. ] Right... we'll get through.

[Smiles and nods] We always do.

You're right. No matter what... we make it through. As long as we're not in it alone, we're fine.

[He nods. Unable to say it any better than that.]

Now, let's get dinner prepared.

Sounds good.

I think adding things to the pot is a good job for you, right now.

[Embarrassed grin] I think I can handle that.

Good! Get some water in a pot and then you can put these that I've cut up in for me.

Alright! [Fills the pot up and puts the items in. Does it fairly smoothly as he's being a bit more careful now that you might be watching.]

[ She's keeping her eyes on him, just in case, but she won't comment on any slips this time. ]

[And thus they manage to get dinner cook!]

[ And there was a small victory for them, finally. ]

Not too bad for just leftovers.

Not at all! I liked it.

Mhmm. Very good. [He's quiet for a bit before flashing a quick smile.] I think I'll go to bed now. [He's going to bed, but not sleeping. She may here some soft crying in the middle of the night. :(]
