[Today Vash was out enjoying the snowfall. He hit the usual places, the flower shop, the bakery, Good Spirits for a drink. He did a little people watching near the fountain before finally hitting the item shop. Where he found a pair of skates that just happened to be his size.

He thought it over for a bit, then decided: what else did he have to do today? So off he went towards the nearest lake and strapped the ice skates on. Only he found out fairly quickly that ice skates don't work so well when the ice is covered in snow.

So after putting his boots back on, another trip back to the item shop, he returns with a shovel and clears an area. Alright! He can do this! He puts the ice skates back on, stands up, and-

-promptly falls over.]

WHAAAAAAAAAA! [Over and over again. He'll slowly start to get the hang of it, but feel free to come and laugh or help him until that point. At one point his journal will even fall out of his pocket. So feel free to also point and laugh at him from the comfort of your own, warm home!]

Yiyiayiyiaia Ow. That really hurt.

[ A nervous chuckle came from him. ]

[Vash sighs with a laugh.] It's alright, I do kinda suck!

No! You shouldn't say that about yourself. That's so mean.

[Ignoring that bit. He's moved on and not caring about insulting himself anymore.]

So, there's a different types of skates. I wonder if there's a beginner style.

[hohenheim]

[ He notices that but decides to let it go over his head. ]

I wonder that as well but admittedly I know nothing about most recreational activities.

You seem to know more about this at least than me. Don't get out too much to relax and exercise?

No, not really. You could say that my line of work prevents me from enjoying too much of life's splendors.

[goldenglasses]

Oh, yeah? [Vash works on another attempt to stand as he speaks.] What kind of work do you do?

[hohenheim]

Do be careful! You might fall again...

[ He winces slightly once the young man tried to stand again. ]

I guess you could say I'm a researcher despite the fact I'm currently unemployed. However I suppose I should tell the truth and admit to be an "alchemist" more so than just a researcher.

[goldenglasses]

[He stands shakily, standing half upright, unable to fully straighten just yet.] Oh! I think I heard you over the journals once. Edward's father, right?

[hohenheim]

...um.

[ A slightly disturbed if not baffled look appeared upon the old alchemist's face. ]

How do you know...that? Did you listen to all that bantering?

[goldenglasses]

Not all of it. [Some of it was locked away from him.] But I heard some of it. Those journal systems? You have to be careful what's said over them because apparently the Malnosso can read even locked things.

[hohenheim]

Oh dear god...

[ Did ALL of Luceti hear all that drama or what? Hohenheim is feeling rightfully embarrassed now. ]

I-I see. I'll keep that in mind.

[ He's mortified. ]

A-ah! Don't worry too much about it! I mean, I couldn't see all of it and not ever-AHHHHHHH! [Opps, there went his footing again and he goes crashing back down to the ice.]

[ In less than a month his family has become a laughing stock amongst the community here in Luceti or so what Hohenheim thinks. He hadn't expected his arrival here to cause so much of a ruckus but it has. No wonder why poor Edward seemed so upset with him. ]

I better go--Oh! Sir!

[ Uh oh. It seems the goofy blond fell once more. Rushing over towards him to help, Hohenheim slips on the ice. ]

Oh! Hey! Be careful ol- [Vash winces in sympathy.] Are you alright?

Ahhh...my back! [ A muffled groan could be heard followed by a quick flash of red light. ]

What the... [Yup. Might as well say it too.]

a-ah! Hang on! I know a little bit of the healing magic here! Just don't try to get up if you hurt yourself!

[hohenheim]

I'm fine! I'm fine.

[ Slowly rising to his feet, Hohenheim gently rubs the back of his neck before leaning down to offer his hand to Vash. ]

I'm okay, honest. Already healed myself.

[goldenglasses]

Healed yourself? [Vash takes the offered hand.] Was that the red light?

[hohenheim]

Hm?

[ He helps Vash up without as so much of a wince. It seems that Hohenheim is just fine. ]

You saw that, didn't you?

[ The old man sighs. ]

To make a long story very short and brief, that was "alchemy".

Alchemy...? Is it like magic? [PLEASE GO ON!]

[hohenheim]

Oh no! Alchemy is nothing like sorcery since it's more of a "science" rather than silly superstition.

[goldenglasses]

Really? Because that looks more like magic than science to me. I'd also be careful on that superstition talk about magic. It really does work here.

[hohenheim]

It does?

[ That came to a mild shock to him. In his word magic definitely doesn't exist, only science. He remembered that Edward did mention briefly about the magic used here in Luceti but he didn't go that much into details. ]

Are you willing to demonstrate its usage and power then?
