[On the morning of the fourth, Vash awoke, but it was different from any other time he had ever woken up before. Instead of feeling hope and excitement for a new day, he could only feel anger and despair. The humans. They were everywhere. There weren’t any other Plants for them to suck the life away from, but they were still so wasteful.

He spent most of the day in his room at the apartment he shared with Meryl and Wolfwood. He could hear them moving around outside his door and he found himself growing more and more resentful of them as time went on. He was slowly forgetting why he use to enjoy hearing the sounds of their voices; why even he chose to live here with them. Finally after he listened and was sure he heard that they had left for the day he started packing. After everything was packed away he picked up his journal and flipped it open. His voice lacks any of the friendly and open manner it once held; now it just sounds angry and aggressive.]

Legato. I understand now. Follow the river to the western lake and meet me there. We’ll start the cleansing here that Knives started back home. He was right, you humans are a parasite, festering and infecting anything you can get your hands on. With you serving me, we will find a way to permanently destroy the humans here so they won’t be back in a week.

You pitiful humans enjoy the little time you have left.

[With that Vash leaves CH4 with the plan to never return except to destroy it.]

[He laughs and it's filled with pure amusement and confidence.] I don't expect them to. Humans are like bugs, scurrying around, screaming and clinging to life, but so easy to stomp down upon.

I've heard garbage like that before. But you should remember - not all humans are the same. And not all humans are unprotected.

[He chuckles.] As protected as they may think they are they are still doomed.

Vash... [What is the X-Man thing to do right here? Professor X would try to talk him down, so...] You're not yourself right now. You need to try to remember who you really are. You're one of the people who wanted to protect humanity. Can't you remember that?

I use to, but I see now how wrong I was. No matter how many chances I gave them they wasted it. I'm done with being their plaything they can use and kick around until they break me.

[She can relate to that - oh boy can she relate to that. But that's not the point.]

And just who's been doing that to you here? The humans? Or the Malnosso? What kind of 'chances' have been wasted here? Try to remember - who's the one that's really screwing with your head right now?

[He hesitates for the briefest moment.] I don't need to give out examples, they as a whole are a waste. The Malnosso as well. They all need to pay.

Ya don't need to give out examples, huh? Or is it more like ya don't have any. I'm not gonna argue with you about whether or not they need to pay - but if you're going to collect, shouldn't ya at least make sure you're charging the ones that owe you?

It's true, a small handful of humans are good, but I must make the smallest sacrifice that I can at the time. There are too few to waste time picking them out. While I try saving the one the bad ones spread farther and deeper.

Spread farther and farther where? In case you've forgotten, we're all trapped here? By the Malnosso? The freaky scientists who like to crack our heads opened like coconuts and swish around the insides?

They go home eventually, this will stop them from returning.

And who are you to decide who lives or dies? [She knows you know this.] What makes you think you have the right? If you were just going after people who'd hurt you, that'd be one thing, [and something she'd still feel obligated to stop] but you're planing on trying to kill everybody. In a world where not a single human has hurt you, you still think you have the right to make that decision?

[This sigh has its origins far older than Rogue... and so does the fact that she's even bothering to explain it.] It's always the same thing - someone thinks they're 'superior,' so they try to wipe out everyone else. It happens all the time with humans, and now it's happening between mutants and humans... and now it's happening here. You can dress it up however you want to, but there's nothing 'superior' about someone who wants to kill everyone else - it's nothing but hatred and fear. And this isn't you, Vash. And if you try to do something like that here, we'll stop you.
