[If you happen to be walking in the forest this afternoon, you may notice something strange. There is a man lying in the snow who apparently thought it would be a good place for a nap. And napping is just what he’s doing at the moment. Thinking that maybe the past couple months have only been a dream - that is, until he starts to wake and notices two important things. He’s cold and wet. Gunsmoke is neither cold or wet so then - it was real? His eyes finally snap open and he bolts upright. He’s breathing heavily as he waves a hand in front of his face before something else hits him.] Meryl! [Snatching the journal at his side Vash will be opening it and nearly shouting into it.]

Meryl! [He quickly softens his voice and puts a soft smile on his face. He’s really back - no need to worry people so much by freaking out.] Uh - everyone. I’m back. I’m sorry if I worried you, but I’ll be home soon.

[He makes good on this by standing as soon as the post is done and making his way back home. He’s stumbling a bit as he makes his way back to community building 4 but otherwise looks fine.]

(ooc: May be slow tagging back. Going to bed soon. I WAS going to post this tomorrow but a few people wouldn't stop complaining. So. I decided to post and not tell them. HA! Revenge! I think?)

[He’s not going to answer for a bit. He’s just going to cling to you for awhile and cry. Because oh god he died. He really died, but he’s back now and oh god… it feels so good to be alive right now. He never wants to do that again. Ever. He’s just so damn happy right now that you’re safe and to be alive.]

[ She holds him tightly and lets him cry. She's crying herself, but she's not making a sound. Not until she starts softly singing that song for him to calm him down. ]

[Vash is not very quiet. He's quite loud for awhile, but eventually calms down and picks up on the singing until he just lets out a very long, shaky sigh and his death grip loosens a bit.]

[ She'll keep singing softly until the song is done, then hush him, rubbing his back. ]

Shh... It's okay, Vash... it's alright, you're okay now. I'm okay. Everyone's okay now...

[Rather tiny laugh] I’ll just… have to be more careful next time.

[ She sniffles and nods, squeezing him lightly, still not letting go. ]

Please do... it's a scary thing to hear... to be told something like that. Even if all I had to do was wait.

[And he practically melts when he realizes you were told. He was very worried you had heard the fight itself.] Thanks for waiting for me again.

[ She looks up at him with a sad smile. ]

You need to get out of this habit of making me wait for you, Vash. It's not an easy job.

[ She laughs lightly and relaxes against him. ]

Good. I don't want to wait again, okay? Don't.. leave me again.

[Well… there’s still that little issue about Knives back home…] I don’t want you to ever have to wait for me again.

[ She knows about that... she still had waiting to do when she gets home, but she doesn't want to think about that right now. ]

I know... just... be careful, from now on, okay? Don't let the house go quiet again. I... I miss you, if you're gone too long.

I will. I promise. [He gives her a small squeeze. Just to prove to himself that he's really here with her right now.]

[ She sighs softly in relief. She'll let go when he does, but she's comfortable at the moment. ]

[He holds on for another minute or two. Grateful for the human contact before letting go and smiling playfully.] So… what’s for dinner?

[ She lets him go then wipes her eyes, sniffling again, with a small laugh. ]

I-I haven't thought about it yet.

We'll think of something.

Right. Let's go see what we have, okay?

Is there anything you're hungry for?

Donuts.

[ She sighs and laughs some. ]

I thought as much. I think we have some, though.

[He'd complain that they're probably not fresh donuts but decides he doesn't want to bring up the passing of time right now.] Sounds good.

[ She smiles and leads the way inside. ] They'll be in the pantry... as for dinner... donuts won't cut it. It's a blizzard out there, so we need something nice and hot.

I'm sure we could throw some leftovers together and make a stew or soup or... something.
