[Action]
[Vash can be found sitting on a bench in the plaza, his glasses on and a very grim look upon his face as he looks the place over. He’s thinking back to the incident with Kefka. A man died and he hadn’t been able to stop it. There must have been a way. What had he missed? He’ll be sitting there for a while, teeth clenching as he tries to figure out what he did wrong. Meryl is welcome to pick up/comment on the sober mood he’s probably been in the past day or so.]

[Except possibly succeed. In which case, you'd have been responsible for the deaths of everyone there. And she nearly says it - but even Nami is not that brutal.]

...softly.]
You can sit here and beat yourself up over this all you like, and it won't change a thing. Maybe there was something you could have done. Maybe you would have saved everyone. Or maybe your actions would have led to the death of everyone there. Maybe if you'd stopped everyone from hurting Kefka, they'd have turned on Sanji instead. Or maybe we could have talked it all out and Kefka would have gone back to his forest like a chastened little boy.
And maybe he'd have gone through with his original plans, in which case I'd be dead and Sanji would hate you.
That's a lot of maybes, Vash. Any one of them is a possibility. But what's done is done.
He'll be back in a week. Instead of moping around about could haves and should haves, maybe you should use this time to work out how we deal with him next time without all the killing and screaming and blame-throwing. Because if there's a way to deal with him without killing, I'll help you.

A-and his spells. I'll need a way to counter them... [He's not emo-ing totally without purpose. Okay... partly without purpose. Maybe a lot without purpose - but there is some purpose to it.]

...there have to be ways of negating magic here. Or at least fighting fire with fire, so to speak. Your best bet would be to talk to Terra on that one. Or maybe check on the journals, see if anyone can give you advice. Killing isn't a solution here, even if you didn't have your particular belief. There has to be other people here that are thinking of solutions.
...Kefka isn't the most powerful person here. Or at least, he wasn't. So ask around. I don't think you don't know Luceti well enough to come up with a solution by yourself.
